PROJECT A
Our vocational training program
that creates meaningful employment
for people with disabilities.
PROGRAM MISSION
Training & Employment
As part of our goal to create fashion’s first fully-inclusive supply chain, we’ve partnered with the Center for All Abilities to create a fashion-focused vocational training program. Project A’s mission is to provide specialized education and employment opportunities for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities, teaching valuable skills that will prepare them to work within the fashion industry. From cutting and sewing, to sales and customer service, we plan to develop different pathways that will lead to meaningful employment throughout Alivia.

CREATION & PROCESS
Meet the Team
Every Project A product is sustainably upcycled from our production fabric scraps that otherwise would have gone to waste. Each Project A employee is paid at least minimum wage, and enjoy a safe and inclusive work environment where they are supported and encouraged by our instructors, therapists, and volunteers.
Bonnie
Bonnie was one of the first Project A employees, and is the master of all things hand sewing and embroidery. She is a true perfectionist and believes no detail is too small. In addition to hand sewing, she is also a pro on the machine and creates beautiful headbands!
Kimberly
Kimberly is the scrunchie-making queen! She quickly grasped how to work the sewing machine during her first training session, and hasn't stopped since. If you've purchased a scrunchie from us, chances are Kimberly created it! In addition to her machine skills, she's a natural with sales—after working at a recent event selling her scrunchies and processing transactions we realized she certainly has a knack for capturing customers.
Caleb
Caleb (aka Yu Chen) is not only a Project A employee, but also a featured creator. His creative skills span across painting, drawing, model-making, cutting, sewing, and beyond! Caleb is a very hard worker, and the most precise 'cutter'—he cuts most of the letters in our Brit Tee and Anna Sweatshirt production on his own.
Yi Fan
Yi Fan has one of the most joyful personalities you will meet—he's always smiling and happy to work on any project given to him! A newer member to the team, Yi Fan is perfecting his sewing skills assisting Kimberly with scrunchie making, and is our go-to guy for tagging and packaging.
Leo
Our most imaginative and humorous team member is Leo. His infectious personality will put anyone in a good mood! Leo is an extremely talented artist and enjoys using the sewing machine to add texture to his artworks. When he's not practicing his machine skills, he's assisting in scrunchie-making, assembling hang tags...and dreaming about In-N-Out Burger and Heinz condiments (his favorite subjects to draw!).
Jenny
Jenny is our newest team member, but isn't a stranger to the sewing machine. In 2019 Jenny was mentored by our founder Jovana, where she originally learned to sew. Although she wasn't able to sew for over a year and a half during the pandemic, Jenny picked it right back up as if a day hadn't gone by and is already working on scrunchie production!
